Upon arrival at Nikola Tesla Airport, your #destinationserbia tour guide will greet you in the arrival hall, and your Belgrade adventure begins!
We start with a panoramic drive through New Belgrade, an area built after WWII that reflects the vision of socialist Yugoslavia’s future. As we pass bold modernist buildings and wide avenues, you'll get a sense of Belgrade's more recent past and architectural ambition.
Crossing the Sava River, we reach the historical heart of the city. Our first stop in the center is Republic Square, the city’s main meeting point and home to landmarks like the National Museum and National Theatre. From here, we begin a stroll along Knez Mihailova Street, Belgrade’s famous pedestrian boulevard lined with elegant buildings, shops, and lively cafés.
This walk leads us straight into Kalemegdan Park and the Belgrade Fortress. Here, you'll experience more than 2,000 years of history in one place. From the earliest Celtic settlements and Roman camps to Ottoman defenses and Serbian uprisings, the fortress tells the story of Belgrade's complex and layered past. As we walk through its gates, towers, and ramparts, you'll see physical traces of different empires and eras, and your guide will bring those stories to life.
Depending on your available time, we continue with a visit to the monumental Church of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. This national symbol has been under construction for nearly a century and continues to impress visitors with its sheer size and spiritual significance.
If time allows, we can also organize an optional lunch in Skadarlija, Belgrade’s charming bohemian quarter. With its cobblestone streets and traditional restaurants, it’s the perfect place to enjoy authentic Serbian cuisine and local atmosphere before heading back to the airport.
After soaking in the best of Belgrade’s sights, your guide will ensure a timely return to Nikola Tesla Airport for your connecting flight.
